How to Get Consolas for Free
There's a beautiful looking font I've been wanting to try. It's called Consolas, but it's only available as an add on for Visual Basic. I've Google'd it and I've found tons of entries that say - almost verbatim - "It's a great font! I would offer a zip, but I can't provide a link due to legal restrictions." Gha!
The legal restriction being: It's only available for developers with Visual Basic.
What you do to solve this is download one of the Visual Basic "Express" versions, for example: Visual Web Developer Express Edition.
I picked Web Developer because figured I would try something in my domain of expertise. It's kinda neat. It has a .Net test server built in. Maybe I'll break down and learn it after all these years.
Then, once you have installed that, the Consolas Font Pack should install no problem.
Consolas is really quite nice looking.
